2011-2 Hot skin pass.

To correct the shape defects in the strip coming from the hot-rolling process. In the rolling process, some fibres may undergo greater elongation than others producing internal stress in the material. The aim of the elongation taking place in the skin pass process is to make the length of all the fibres composing the material the same length in order to obtain a flatter strip devoid of stress.
